by creating an account on yellow, you agree to these terms. if you do not agree, do not use yellow.
1. who we are
yellow is an independent student-made platform — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Stony Brook University or SUNY. it was built by an SBU student, for SBU students.
2. eligibility
- enrolled student at Stony Brook University with a valid @stonybrook.edu email
- agreement to these terms
- not previously banned from yellow
3. payments & subscriptions
- first month: $1.99
- after that: $4.99/month, billed automatically
- cancel anytime — takes effect at end of billing period
- no refunds for partial months
- payments via Stripe — we never store your card details
4. acceptable use
you agree not to harass, threaten, stalk, or harm other users; share explicit or illegal content; impersonate other students; solicit money or services; or violate any applicable law.
5. no liability for user interactions
yellow is a connecting platform only. we are not responsible for any interactions, meetups, or events between users — on or off the platform. use yellow at your own risk.
6. account termination
we reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violations of these terms.
7. governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. disputes resolved in Suffolk County courts.

what we collect
- account info: name, SBU email, major, year, general area
- profile content: bio and what you're looking for
- messages & photos: content sent through yellow
- payment info: processed by Stripe — we never store card details
what we do NOT collect
- your real-time location
- your exact commute route or schedule
- your academic records
we do not sell your data. ever.
your profile is visible to logged-in yellow users only. your email is never shown publicly.

your rights
you can edit or delete your profile, cancel your subscription, or request full data deletion at any time through the issues form.
